What To Expect

At MOVE, we practice holistically by looking at the whole picture — what's driving your condition, what this means for your life, and what needs to happen for you to truly move past it.

Our approach isn't a formula. But it does follow a clear path — grounded in the best available evidence and shaped by years of working with some of the most complex presentations in our region.

Stage 1 - Assessment

Understand & dial down - before anything else, we listen

Pain is complex, and not always a sign of damage, but often driven by a sensitive nervous system. Understanding what’s driving that sensitivity is the first step toward changing it.

In your early sessions, we will focus on:

  • Understanding your story — your history, concerns, and goals.

  • Reducing sensitivity — using hands-on treatment and smart load management to build confidence.

  • Clear education — so you understand what’s happening and feel in control.

This phase isn’t about doing less — it’s about doing the right things to set you up for recovery.

Hands-on therapy will always be provided where necessary, or as requested — to aid in dialling down pain and sensitivity.

Stage 2 - Confidence & Capacity

We build confidence before strength

Many people come to MOVE having been told what they can’t do — avoiding movement and losing trust in their body.

Our role is to help you move again; safely, progressively, and with purpose.

From there, we will focus on:

  • Individualised exercise — built around you and your goals.

  • Progressive loading — helping your body adapt through consistent, well-planned challenge.

  • Meaningful goals — every session works toward something real.

  • Self-management — so you stay strong and independent long-term.

Stage 3 - Performance & Prevention

Getting better is just the beginning

The goal isn’t just to be pain-free — it’s to build a body that’s strong, resilient, and capable of staying that way.

In this phase, we will focus on:

  • Load management — knowing when to push and when to pull back.

  • Injury prevention — tailored to your body, sport, and lifestyle.

  • Performance — building toward goals that matter to you.

This is where our strength classes and exercise physiology sessions come in — bridging the gap between rehab and long-term performance with structured, supervised training built for real results.

Client Journey & Stages Of Care

Most clients move through 6 –12 sessions, depending on the complexity of the presentation and their goals.

Each client's experience will be unique to their needs, and we will always be honest with you about where you're at and what we think is realistic. Our goal will be working toward the day you don't need to come back.

Sessions 1–3: Understanding what's going on, building trust and established a shared plan. We aim to get you moving with less pain, and more confidence.

Sessions 4–7: Progressive loading and exercise, so you can return to meaningful activities. Rebuilding capacity and confidence.

Sessions 8–12: Performance and prevention, through load management, strength training, and setting you up for the long term.

Ongoing: Some clients will return maintenance therapy, Clinical Pilates, or strength classes — for clients who want to stay strong and stay out of pain.
